Stopped cooling

the first two years the ac was working great after it just stop blowing cool air and the fan runs. Since the day I got it I cleaned the filter every two weeks or when the red light would turn on. I dont understand why it stopped cooling. This is so frustrating bc its a very expensive unit and I thought it was going to last for years.

Worked great for the first 1.5 years. Then took it out this year and it doesnt pull water when its dehumidifier mode and stopped cooling all together. Called LG and no help at all. Troubleshooting was a disaster and no other options given. Expensive product for such a short shelf life. The manual isnt any help either.

Bought this unit because our old LG portable A/C was wearing out our old one lasted about a good 8 years. Was excited to get this new one since it gets over 100 degrees here in Vegas and we needed something to cool down our bedroom at night. Upon the first night of having this new one the stupid thing shuts off completely as soon as it hits the desired temperature that you have it set at. This being said the unit doesnt actually keep our bedroom cold. My husband and I will still wake up at night because we get too hot even though we have it set to 60 degrees. The constant turning off/on also wakes us up because its very loud and we need the white noise to sleep. The fan also makes a HORRIBLE rattling noise no matter what speed the fan is on. We finally just had to buy a white noise machine to cover up all the awful sounds this unit makes since we cant afford to buy a different A/C unit. Extremely disappointed and wont be recommending to anyone.

I would have given this air conditioner five stars as it does the job of cooling a small room very well but it has become very noisy in high speed mode over the last year. The unit has been used a total of six months over the last two summers three months each year. The filter screens are cleaned at the end of each summer. As an electro-mechanical engineer I was curious about the source of the noise and to see if I could make the cooler run quieter. After finding the source of the noise which is the fan assembly I found out that the bearings on either side of the fan blower wheel are not the greatest and do not hold the blower wheel securely enough. This allows the blower wheel to move axially and vertically causing excess noise. Not an easy fix. If you dont mind a little extra noise this is a great cooler.

Never buying LG again

I bought this a month or so ago. It started making rattling noises after a few weeks. Submitted for a repair which was WAY to difficult. Appointment was a week away. Tech canceled during time he was supposed to show up. When he did show up he came early. The unit doesnt make the rattling noise for the first 1/2 hour of use. I told him that and showed him a video. He said the video was good enough. Then he went back to the office said he didnt hear a noise and said everything was fine. Finally gave up and returned it to Amazon for a full refund. I will absolutely NEVER buy an LG product again. This entire experience was unacceptable

Reliability evaluation

I have purchased over the years about 10 of these. Have 4 in use currently. Although not as efficient as a window unit the setup takes just a few minutes and can still have access to window on days that dont need ac. On average I get about 3 years on a unit then in every instance it leaks refrigerant. Where as with window units have gotten on average 5 years. I am willing to put up with high overall cost of replacement for the convenience. Just wish would make the units little more robust so could get equivalent life to a window unit.

Powerful Sleek

we just bought this it was delivered at the end of July. My husband is a contractor so he has lots of experience but we read watched a YouTube video by LG on how to set it up. I read the manual carefully and made sure to operate it as specified. Everything has been great until 2 days ago. While watching tv suddenly it started to make loud noises like something scraping across the ground. I jumped up and went over to check it. It sounds like its coming from the vents I turned it off knowing I had set up the 10 minute shut down for condensation removal and it continued making noise until itwent off. When I restarted it the next day it started making noise again so I switched the venting through the great APP from oscillating to being stationary and the noise went away But when I shut it down this morning it was making the noise for 10 minutes. I did use the app for help but they did not list this noise.

Good A/C with some quirks

I live in a 3rd story apartment with vaulted ceilings and this unit does a pretty good job of helping keep my apartment cool along with an a/c that I keep in a bedroom. My only complaint is that sometimes the unit makes a noise that sounds almost as if theres gusty wind blowing in the unit. I thought possibly that wind was blowing down the tube that attaches to the window but after some troubleshooting that was not the problem. It still works fine other than the noise being more of annoyance at times. Most of the time it runs as normal and there isnt that wind blowing noise but it can be annoying especially when watching tv. Unfortunately customer service was not able to get a repair technician out to me to check out the issue because there isnt a repair service in my area.

Great 1.5 years then diminished performance

This worked quite well for the first year and a half but despite changing and cleaning the filter every time the light turns on dust and grime build up on the coils WAY too easily. It is near impossible to clean the coils. In trying to get it serviced I have not received help outside of the warranty period. The sole technician on the website does not service up near me per their website. Very disappointing to purchase an appliance and have its performative capabilities limited to 1.5 years.

Bought this AC in March of 2022. Worked fine for a few months by August it had stopped putting out cold air altogether ... sounded like compressor was on but nothing blowing out. Submitted repair request via LG site since it has a one-year warranty and never heard anything except for getting text messages asking if I still needed help or they would close the ticket. Always responded Y but of course they closed it out. Went through 3 or 4 repair request tickets with no response. Garbage

Hate This Unit

Waste of money We bought this unit brand new dirctly from LG website and it keeps turning off constantly As far as I can tell theres no Energy Saver mode so its not that. The unit just turns off every few minutes for no reason We always want it ON because I stop breathing in my sleep at night and the temperatures here are super hot making it hard to breathe. We soley bought this unit for constant COOL air. We leave it on 60 because its not even cold at 60 Its like luke cold. We also bought this unit because we have an older model LG ac unit that stays ON COLD continuously with no problems but it had recently started leaking water all over the carpet which has ruined our carpet because of how drenched it got. Aired it out but still mold grew under the carpet. But at least it was COLD and STAYED ON CONTINOUSLY. We thought upgrading our old unit for a new one it would be better have no problems but we were definitely wrong Waste of money So mad we cant even return it because the time window is closed so now we have this unit that works for about 10-20 minutes and shuts off for the remaining time unless we physically press the down arrow key on the remote OR it randomly decides after over an hour to kick on by itself. Also yes we have the hose to the window set up correctly. I also have yo mention the design flaw this unit is placed in our bedroom and the vents are facing upward so it basically blows the ceiling instead of making the vents on the side where you can actually feel cold air hit your face Our old unit had the vents on the side and was perfect This new one is utterly useless
